1. I do a simple sketch on paper and then scan the sketch. This stage takes about an hour. Filters are not a part of the painting process that I use. I might use adjustment layers to enhance the photograph for color if there is a need for this.
2. I then do my under-painting to lay in the basic colors   This stage can take two to four hours.  The background is then completed. Depending on the complexity of the background this stage normally takes about 3 or 4 hours.

3. The eyes are done first  to try and capture a perfect likeness. I believe the eyes are the “Windows of the Soul” and one of the most important parts of a portrait, if not the most important. I usually go ahead and do the nose at this stage.  I can easily spend up to a couple of hours on the eyes and nose by themselves.

4. Careful attention is given to the coloring, shape and details. Individual brush strokes are done for the remainder just like I did when I painted traditionally.

An average painting takes about 30 to 40 hours for completion of a portrait.

My digital paintings are hand-sketched and painted portraits created in the same way as traditional oil, acrylic, pastel or watercolor paintings. In lieu of wet paint, digital art is created with tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet, stylus and software. All paintings are original custom portraits that have been painted digitally. These portraits are NOT created by applying pre-set filter effects to the photograph. Each stroke is painted the same as traditional paintings would be and take many hours to complete. The final painting will be a beautiful way to turn your photograph a true work of art that will last for generations.

Your personal art is an original, one of kind, hand painted work of art. In order to maintain reasonable prices, I retain copyright on all the artwork that I create, I will maintain a back up digital file for you to use.
